€30,000 of ‘Gala’ Gifts for primary schools

€30,000 of ‘Gala’ Gifts for primary schools

With a massive €30,000 prize pot up for grabs for Irish primary schools, leading Irish convenience retail group, Gala Retail is back with its ‘Gala Gifts for Schools’ campaign.

The retail group teamed up with TV and radio presenter, Lucy Kennedy, to launch the 2020 initiative, which this year will see six primary schools win a €5,000 cash prize!

Speaking at the launch, Lucy Kennedy commented: “The Gala Gifts for Schools initiative has been hugely successful for the past couple of years, with Gala Retail having given a total of €50,000 of cash prizes to winning primary schools from across Ireland to date.

“This year, entering the competition is easier than ever and we’re hoping to receive hundreds of entries from Irish primary schools who would like a €5,000 cash prize from Gala to spend on their school.”

This year, Gala Gifts for Schools takes the form of a sticker competition. Gala Retail will be providing participating primary schools with a large poster of Ireland, populated with educational information and facts about some of Ireland’s key heritage and tourism sites. For a chance to win €5,000 schools must collect exclusive Gala ‘G’ stickers, with one sticker awarded for every €10 spent in participating Gala stores.

The stickers must then be added to the Gala Gifts for Schools poster, a total of 200 stickers must be collected and the first 50 primary schools to submit their completed entries will also receive a €100 voucher for Gala Retail stores.

Speaking about Gala Gifts for Schools, CEO of Gala Retail, Gary Desmond adds: “Gala Gifts for Schools first launched in 2018 and is about to enter its third year. In that time, we have seen first-hand the huge difference that our cash gifts can make to primary schools in communities across Ireland and as a community-based convenience retail group, this really resonates with our retailers.

“This year, we want to give even more schools the chance to win with Gala Retail! With a total prize fund of €30,000, we’re giving six primary schools the chance to win a €5,000 cash prize. The competition is easy to enter and schools can enter as many times as they want, so we’re looking forward to seeing our shoppers support their local schools and inviting the whole community to get involved in collecting stickers and completing these posters to give local schools a chance to win.”

The Gala Gifts for Schools competition is now open for entries.  For more information, Ts & Cs and how to enter, visit www.gala.ie/competitions. Deadline for entries is May 31.
