TOMRA launches new compact reverse vending machine for retailers in Ireland

Global reverse vending leader, TOMRA Collection, has today announced the launch of their newest consumer-facing reverse vending machine in Ireland.

The TOMRA B5 Combi is the latest addition to the company’s line of reverse vending machines (RVM) offering innovation and affordability to stores across the country who want to participate in the deposit return scheme (DRS). With a small footprint of only 0.8 square meters, TOMRA B5 Combi offer a compact and efficient recycling solution for retailers who want to maximise retail space. As of 1st of February 2024, Irish retailers have introduced recycling points across their stores as part of Ireland’s new deposit return scheme to curb the volume of plastic waste sent to landfill.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ireland produces over 1.2 million tonnes of plastic waste each year. While recycling rates for glass and cardboard remain high at 84% and 73% respectively, only 28% of all plastic is properly recycled in Ireland.

Its standout feature, a large 21.5” touch display, ensures user-friendliness, particularly for consumers new to deposit return systems, enhancing the overall experience and encouraging greater participation in recycling efforts.

Designed for convenience and versatility, the free-standing TOMRA B5 Combi can collect a combination of plastic bottles and cans in two separate bins or consolidate them into one, providing flexibility to accommodate varying recycling needs.
