Review of TBESS; tackling Retail Crime and the Cost of Doing Business: RGDATA to meet Retail Minister – all on the agenda for Ministerial meeting

An RGDATA delegation led by Director General Tara Buckley and President Colin Fee met with Minister for Retail Neale Richmond on 15th February to highlight the key issues facing independent grocery/convenience retailers.

RGDATA addressed the review of the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme, the RGDATA Retail Crime Survey and the need to quantify and address the considerable costs being imposed on local shops by the ongoing roll out of various Government initiatives.

The following day – on Thursday 16th February – RGDATA Director General Tara Buckley made a presentation to the Garda Retail Theft Forum to highlight the results of an RGDATA Retail Crime Survey which indicates how shop owners and their staff continue to deal with high levels of crime, fraud and abusive activities in their stores.

The owners of over 400 shops responded to the RGDATA Crime Survey.
