Rallying Call – Fuels for Ireland on Future Forecourts
Fuels for Ireland took a select group of motoring journalists to Rally School Ireland to partake in a fossil fuel-free day of high-speed driving.
Fuels for Ireland’s Kevin McPartlan said ” It was an exciting day, as the high-performance Porsches, Subarus, Toyotas, Nissans, and Fords used were pumped with the same advanced biofuel as current World Rally Championship cars.
“With this fossil-free drop-in replacement for petrol, they needed no adaption to run on a low-carbon liquid fuel alternative. While this particular advanced biofuel synthetic petrol is too expensive to realistically replace petrol for the average motorists for now, it demonstrates that internal combustion engines can play a role in our net-zero future.
We’ve shown what’s possible. The question now is whether policy will follow.”
