Maxol renews Ulster Mini Rugby sponsorship

Leading forecourt and convenience retailer Maxol has announced the renewal of its sponsorship of Ulster Mini Rugby for the next two seasons.

Ulster Mini Rugby is an opportunity for both boys and girls aged 6-12 to gain their first tastes of the sport and begin to learn the basic skills.

The first Mini Rugby Festival kicks off on October 10 at Clogher Valley in County Tyrone, and those taking part will meet local rugby legends and enjoy fun activities helping them further their sporting skills.

Around 1500 children from over 40 local rugby clubs and 32 primary schools from across Ulster are expected to take part in this season’s events.

The company first supported Ulster Mini Rugby in 2013 and has renewed its sponsorship for a further two years as part of its ongoing investment in local communities.

Brian Donaldson, group general manager of the Maxol Group, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Ulster Rugby who are deeply committed to bringing the sport to a new generation of potential players. Thousands of young rugby hopefuls will be able to meet stars of the Ulster Rugby squad at a range of Mini Rugby Festivals between now and next spring.”

The renewal was welcomed by Phillip Polack, Business Development Manager of Ulster Rugby, who said: “Mini rugby is one of the fastest growing areas of our game, with thousands of young players togging out at clubs across the province each Saturday. The Maxol mini rugby programme is a great opportunity to bring many of our clubs and schools together, allowing players to develop their skills against different opposition.”
