Freeze on fuel duty rise welcomed by Maxol

The Maxol Group has said the Chancellor’s decision to cancel the planned fuel duty rise in September is good news for stretched NI households.

Speaking following Wednesday’s Budget by George Osborne, group general manager Brian Donaldson, said the duty freeze was the “right decision” for NI motorists.

“We are delighted with the outcome,” he said.

“For most people in Northern Ireland a car is essential for daily life and for many years motorists have been an easy target for the Treasury.”

Mr Donaldson added that the continued freeze showed the Government had “listened to the voice of concerned consumers”.

“As a leading fuel retailer across the island of Ireland we have been at the forefront of providing our customers with quality fuel at competitive prices and are pleased today’s decision supports this,” he added.
