Foodservice partnership supports vulnerable during pandemic

Since Compass Group Ireland and the National Treasury Management Agency teamed up to launch “The Feeding in the Community Initiative” two months ago, they have supported families which are isolating during the pandemic with 3,000 meals.

Ireland’s largest food and support services company is providing freshly cooked, hot meals to those who most need them by working with charities including LauraLynn, The Children’s Sunshine Home, Age Action, Ronald McDonald House, Irish Wheelchair Association and COVID-19 Dublin City Council Community Response Forum.

The meals are being provided to people aged over 60, those suffering from long-term medical conditions or people who have weakened immune systems, as well as individuals who are self-isolating or are vulnerable to food poverty due to the effects of Covid-19 in the greater Dublin region.

Approximately 400 meals are being prepared each week, using facilities located at the National Treasury Management Agency’s office, with a wide variety of main meals, sides and soups available.

Families can choose their food via an app called Feedr. Compass Group then cooks these meals to order and delivers them. Compass Group Ireland is the on-site catering provider for National Treasury Management Agency employees.

“We’re really proud to be able to offer our skills, time and resources to help families around Ireland at this difficult time. A huge thanks to all our dedicated people who have made this possible,” said Chris Chidley, managing director, Compass Group Ireland.
