Aldi teams up with Deliveroo to trial deliveries

Budget supermarket chain Aldi has teamed up with food delivery service Deliveroo to trial deliveries.

The trial partnership, which gets underway in two stores in Dublin this week, will allow customers to order from more than 140 items in store. Once placed, orders will be picked and packed by Aldi staff, before going out for contactless delivery with one of Deliveroo’s riders.

The new service will make a range of essentials available in under 30 minutes or less, Aldi says. Should the partnership go will, there are hopes that the service could roll out in further stores across the country by the end of 2020.

A €4.99 service and delivery charge applies, with minimum orders worth €25 rising to a maximum €75.
