SPAR and EUROSPAR Extend Partnership with Team Ireland with Support of Sport Ireland Campus Kids’ Camps
SPAR and EUROSPAR have announced their sponsorship of the Sport Ireland Campus Kids Camps, extending their partnership with Team Ireland. This support for the sport camps that cater for all ages, standards and levels of interest, represents SPAR and EUROSPAR’s long-standing commitment in championing sport from grassroots through to elite level. Taking place at the world‑class Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin 15, the Kids Camps will give children the opportunity to experience a wide range of sports in a high‑performance environment, while also meeting and getting tips from elite Irish athletes.
SPAR EUROSPAR Team Ireland Ambassadors Kate O’Connor, silver medallist at the World Athletics Championship, and Olympic gold medallist rower Fintan McCarthy, are also supporting the initiative to help inspire young participants and promote the importance of sport and physical activity from an early age.
Colin Donnelly, SPAR Sales Director, said: “Supporting the Sport Ireland Campus Kids Camps is a natural extension of our Team Ireland partnership. It allows us to bring that sponsorship to life at grassroots level, helping families and encouraging children to get active and experience sport in a world‑class environment.”
Peter Dwan, EUROSPAR Sales Director said: “This is a strong example of how our partnership with Team Ireland continues to evolve beyond elite competition. As retailers rooted in local communities, we see initiatives like this as an important way to support the next generation while reinforcing our long‑term commitment to Irish sport.”
Dr. Una May, Chief Executive Officer of Sport Ireland said: “The Sport Ireland Campus Kids Camps play an important role in encouraging children of all abilities to get active and discover a variety of sports in a world-class environment. Through our partnership with SPAR and EUROSPAR and Team Ireland, young participants have the unique opportunity to experience the home of Irish sport and be inspired by Team Ireland athletes along the way.”
This announcement comes on the back of SPAR and EUROSPAR’s ‘Hungry For Success’ campaign and its Official Retail Partnership with The Olympic Federation of Ireland and Paralympics Ireland. The partnership was significantly expanded earlier this year with the launch of the SPAR and EUROSPAR Community Fund, to empower local clubs and help them nurture future talent, providing vital facilities and support within their communities.
It also builds on SPAR and EUROSPAR’s extensive heritage of supporting local and elite sports, which includes sponsoring the European Athletics Championships since 1996, supporting more than 80 competitions, and consistently promoting healthy living through sport and a balanced diet. SPAR and EUROSPAR have a long-standing track record of serving local Irish communities since the first store opened in 1963, giving back and investing significantly in community and charity programmes to support local causes, community clubs and groups.
