CCPC to look into Circle K’s proposal to acquire Pelco Holdings nine service stations.

The CCPC has stated that the proposed offer could result in damaging competition across Ireland, according to a report by Petrol Plaza.

Ireland’s Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) will look into Circle K’s proposal to acquire Pelco Holdings Limited’s nine service stations.

The proposed deal submitted to the CCPC in July 2024 raised concerns about its potential impact on competition in the country. After conducting an initial investigation, CCPC has decided to proceed with a more in-depth review to determine whether the acquisition could lead to a significant reduction in competition within the Irish market.

The CCPC is required to examine certain mergers and acquisitions under competition law to prevent any harmful effects on market competition. If the acquisition goes through, it would increase Circle K’s network to 419 outlets across the country.

Circle currently operates 168 locations and works with a dealer partner network comprising 242 sites.
