Young Retailers Back RGDATA App

The next generation of  retailers gave the thumbs up to the RGDATA Retailer Toolkit – a new app for local traders.

Conceived and designed by independent retailers, the RGDATA Retailer Toolkit contains a practical calculator and insider video tips from retailers and industry experts. It will also keep retailers up to date on all industry and RGDATA news.

The app was launched by a group of young retailers who are taking part in an RGDATA initiative to help highlight and promote their family businesses and the contribution that locally owned shops make to local communities.

Representatives from some of Ireland’s best known and successful independent family businesses were in attendance including Aisling Joyce from Joyce’s Supermarket Group in Galway, Hugh Doyle from Donnybrook Fair in Dublin, James Moriarty and Linda Madden from the Moriarty Group with businesses in Balbriggan, Palmerstown and Skerries, Raylene McCaughey from McCaughey’s Service Station, Broomfield Co Monaghan and Cormac Quish from Quish’s SuperValu in Tramore, Co Waterford and Ballincollig, Co Cork.

“A key strength of the independent trade is that these are family run businesses,” said RGDATA director general Tara Buckley.

“Younger family members are getting involved and bringing new ideas and enthusiasm to the shop floor. These are key Irish businesses that are investing in their shops and their staff, creating and retaining jobs in local communities and contributing to Ireland’s recovery.”

She added: “I can tell you that with these next generation retailers involved in their family business the future of the independent grocery sector in Ireland is bright. RGDATA is also embracing the future of retail and that is why we are delighted to launch our retailer toolkit app with the support of AIB.”

The app is available for download on iOS on the app store and android on google play. It can be found by searching ‘rgdata’ in the respective store.
