Retail Crime – have your say as new Garda Operation on retail crime launched
Dublin Ireland. The Assistant Commissioner Paula Hilman, Roads Policing and Community Engagement at the launch of Operation T‡irge, supporting investigations into Organised Retail Crime at Walter Scott House Dublin. An Garda S’och‡na will commence ÔOperation T‡irgeÕ, to support operational activity aimed at detecting and preventing Organised Retail Crime (ORC).
Last month the Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee TD launched Operation Táirge to assist Gardai in tackling serial shoplifters and organised retail crime. At the launch of the special Garda initiative, the Minister noted that retail crime has a significant impact on shop owners, their staff and families and promised the full support of the Gardai in combatting retail crime. Attending the launch of Operation Táirge, Tara Buckley, RGDATA Director General urged the Minister to use the initiative to tackle the scourge of youth anti-social behaviour in shops.

RGDATA has also launched a survey of members on retail crime so that the practical challenges faced by retailers in managing retail crime can be fed directly into the Government and the Garda Commissioner.
