There is no price gouging by independent grocers RGDATA tells Retail Forum

RGDATA Director General Tara Buckley attended last week’s special Retail Forum meeting on grocery prices. The meeting was held under Chatham House rules, therefore the organisation is restricted on what it can currently report.

However, Tara Buckley said there was no price gouging or greedflation from the independent grocery shops that RGDATA represents.

Buckley said independent grocers were operating in a very high-cost environment and were doing their utmost to make their shops as efficient as possible.

She highlighted the impact of energy, insurance, banking and payment costs, new employment costs and retail crime costs on struggling local shops. RGDATA called for urgent Government action to tackle these costs.
