Fyffes expands children’s fitness coaching team
Fitness coaches Gemma Habington, from Celbridge, and Sarah Ryan, from Limerick City, join the Fyffes Fit Squad team to spend the next six months visiting schools, north and south, where they will exercise with the pupils, deliver keep-fit tuition and give guidance on the importance of healthy eating.

Irish banana distributors Fyffes has expanded its Fit Squad coaching team with the appointment of two additional trainers ahead of the commencement of their 2022/23 programme of ‘fitness visits’ to schools, north and south.

New to the team are fitness trainers Gemma Habington (from Celbridge) and Sarah Ryan (from Limerick City). With fellow fitness trainer, Tom Dalton (Rathfarnham), they will be embarking on their programme of in-person school visits which resumes following a two years break due to Covid-19.

Continuing until next March, it is expected that some 7,500 pupils will participate in the interactive Fit Squad sessions, adding to the over-20,000 pupils who have taken part in it since it was first launched in 2018.

Gemma, founder of Celbridge-based Circ Fitness Ireland, comes to the programme having worked as a fitness coach in the USA, Canada, Australia and Spain. Sarah, qualified as a personal trainer, fitness instructor, kids yoga instructor and pilates instructor, has taught youth and adult fitness classes in studios and schools throughout Limerick.

Welcoming them both, Fyffes Head of Marketing, Emma Hunt-Duffy, says: “as we embark on our most ambitious schedule of school visits, their experience, skills and expertise will help to enhance our programme of introducing children to the importance of physical exercise and healthy eating.”
