FSAI to host webinar on how food businesses can comply with food safety training requirements

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) begins its 2022 ‘Breakfast Bite’ webinars, a series of free, informal virtual meetings for food businesses.

The next webinar in the series: ‘Food Safety Training – What You Need to Know’ will be held on Thursday, 10 February 2022 from 10am – 10:40am.

Participants will hear FSAI Training and Compliance Manager, Ruth Conefrey, outline how food businesses can comply with food safety training requirements. The webinar is free of charge and the link to register can be found here.

Food safety is a shared responsibility between governments, producers and consumers. It is hoped this event will highlight the crucial importance of food safety training and remind attendees about procedures that must be in place. FSAI resources available to food businesses will also be explained on the day.

The webinar is relevant to business owners, managers, caterers, chefs, and anyone who comes into contact with food during their work. The short event will cover the training requirements and responsibilities for food handlers, who are defined as anyone who prepares or handles food (either unwrapped or packaged), no matter how small a proportion of their work this may be.

Participants will also have the chance to ask Ruth questions following her presentation.

Encouraging people to sign up for the Breakfast Bite webinar, Dr Pamela Byrne, CEO, FSAI said: “Food safety is key to everything we do in the FSAI and this Breakfast Bite webinar is another opportunity for food businesses, employees and relevant stakeholders to learn how best to comply with food safety training requirements. We are urging anyone who involved in a food business to sign up and attend this short event to gain further understanding of the training requirements and responsibilities of food handlers.”
