Corrib Oil Spar officially opens in Athlone

The new Corrib Oil Spar on the Ballymahon Road, Athlone, has officially opened with a special celebration.

The ribbon cutting was performed by store manager Gavin Butler and his team along with Tommy and members of the oil distribution team.

The ceremony was attended by Corrib Oil management and staff including Tommy Kelly, a driver with more than 40 years’ service.

Music and entertainment was provided by Corvenieos Entertainment and customers got to Spin the Wheel for great prizes such as Corrib Oil gift cards, hotel vouchers, a Smart TV and more. Children also enjoyed treats, face painting and a balloon artist.

The store which has become a firm favourite with locals and passing trade alike employs 20 people.

Customers can choose from the award-winning Corrib Deli which serves breakfast, lunch and dinners all prepared instore, delicious treats from Corrib bakery, Insomnia takeaway teas and coffee and a SPAR grocery convenience store. The store boasts an attractive new-look fitout in the modern award-winning SPAR store design.

Customers can sign up for a Corrib Oil Rewards Programme which offers perks such as your 7th Coffee Free, 7th Sandwich or Breakfast Roll free along with special offers on groceries.

This store complements the existing operation of home heating oil and commercial and farm diesel which is on the Coosan Road in Athlone and also the fuel pumps in Blyry Industrial Estate which already employs 10 people .

The first Corrib Oil convenience store and service station opened its doors in Westport, Co. Mayo in 1991 and now Athlone is its 33rd store. The company has built integrity, honesty, and loyalty with its customers and is growing from strength to strength now employing in excess of 1,000 people

The store is managed by Gavin Butler while the Deli operation is under the remit of Marlena Czuprynska.

The shop opens each morning at 6am until 11pm in the evening except on Saturday 7am to 11pm and 8am to 11pm Sundays and Bank holidays.

Eugene Dalton of Corrib Oil said: “The store is focused on establishing a strong grocery and food-to-go offering and along with our forecourt, it makes this store a convenient one-stop shop for local residents and commuters. We would like to thank the local community for their ongoing support.”
