SPAR prepares for the festive season with Christmas FM Song Contest 2026
The nationwide competition invites singers, songwriters and musicians to create Ireland’s next festive hit
SPAR is preparing for the festive season with the launch of The SPAR Christmas FM Song Contest 2026, in partnership with Christmas FM.
The competition invites singers, songwriters and musicians from across the island of Ireland to put their festive creativity to the test.
The annual competition is searching for the next big Christmas hit, with the winning track set to be played on Christmas FM to listeners in Ireland and internationally, alongside festive favourites from Wham!, Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé.
Entries to the competition close at 1pm on Saturday, 28 November, with submissions accepted at christmasfm.com/songcontest.
Last year’s competition was won by Tralee native Mark Leen with Here On Christmas Day, featuring the Kerry School of Music Chamber Choir and the Kerry Children’s Choir.
Christmas FM will also continue The Magic of Christmas fundraising appeal this year, supporting Barnardos, Barretstown, Make-A-Wish Ireland and children’s charities across Ireland through Community Foundation Ireland.
The SPAR song contest forms part of Christmas FM’s 2026 festive season, with the station streaming online from 1 November before it’s due to return to FM radio on 28 November. The station is also available on DAB+.
