Redmond Service Station Puts Gorey on the World Stage
…Just five months after opening
Wexford family business earns international recognition in prestigious Best Foodvenience Store in the World competition
Just five months after opening its doors, Redmond Service Station in Gorey, Co. Wexford, has earned international recognition in the prestigious Best Foodvenience Store in the World 2026 competition, competing alongside some of the world’s leading convenience retailers.
The family-owned business was among 24 international entrants from 10 countries, an extraordinary achievement for a new venture that has quickly established itself as a distinctive food destination in the South East.
Owned by Paddy Redmond and his family, the service station has built its offering around a genuine farm-to-fork philosophy, with award-winning Black Angus beef and seasonal produce sourced from the family’s farm just five kilometres away. This commitment to quality and provenance is also central to its Farmhouse Burger restaurant.
The Gorey business attracted praise from international competition judge Dan Munford, CEO of Insight Research and Global Convenience, who visited the station during his global tour, describing its offering as “a proper field to fork story” and highlighting the quality of its produce, innovative concept and customer experience.
Speaking about the recognition, Paddy Redmond, owner of Redmond Service Station, said:
“We set out to create something different, combining the convenience of a modern service station with the quality and freshness of food produced on our own farm. To receive international recognition just five months after opening is an incredible achievement for our family and everyone involved. We’re extremely proud of what we’ve built in Gorey, and this is only the beginning.”
Service Station Manager Declan Gilmore, who brings over 40 years of retail experience to the business, added:
“To be recognised alongside established international retailers so early in our journey is fantastic. Our focus from day one has been exceptional food, outstanding service and giving customers a reason to return. This recognition is a tremendous endorsement of our team, their hard work and the support we’ve received from our customers.”
The Best Foodvenience Store in the World competition celebrates excellence in convenience foodservice, innovation and customer experience.
For Redmond Service Station, the recognition marks an impressive first chapter, demonstrating how a strong family vision, local provenance and a commitment to quality can make an impact on the international stage.
