BWG Expands Quick Service Restaurant Business with New O’Brien’s Cafe, Abrakebabra and Bagel Factory Locations
CREATING 100 JOBS
- New Oasis of Taste Food Hall opens in Citywest, with three O’Briens Café and Bagel Factory locations to follow in Smithfield, Carlow Town and Limerick City
- Openings support BWG’s ambition to add 25 new locations by 2030, alongside more than 50 franchisee partners nationwide
BWG Foods (BWG) has announced the opening of four new foodservice locations across Ireland through its O’Briens Café, Abrakebabra, Bagel Factory and Oasis of Taste Food Hall portfolio, creating over 100 jobs and further strengthening the group’s national franchise network.
The expansion includes the newly opened Oasis of Taste Food Hall in Citywest Shopping Centre, the Group’s fourth food hall in Dublin, alongside three new O’Briens Café and Bagel Factory locations due to open in Carlow Town, Smithfield in Dublin and Limerick City by year end. Oasis of Taste is a food court format that features O’Briens Café, Bagel Factory and Abrakebabra offerings, all under one roof, catering to families and individuals of all generations.
The new openings form part of the BWG’s wider foodservice growth strategy, which is focused on identifying franchise opportunities in strong local and secondary locations. BWG is targeting areas with growing populations, established commuter catchments, and local destination centres that attract high footfall.
BWG is also seeking opportunities to partner with local entrepreneurs in existing foodservice sites, allowing for franchise developments that will benefit from the awareness, marketing support and customer trust of some of the country’s best‑known quick service restaurant brands.
Overall trading across the quick service restaurant business (O’Briens Café, Abrakebabra, Bagel Factory and Oasis of Taste Food Hall) is growing year-on-year, with annual sales projected to exceed €50 million, providing positive momentum as BWG continues to invest in its portfolio and progress its ambition to add 25 new locations by 2030. The four new sites are expected to create approximately 100 jobs, while the wider franchised store network currently employs over 1,200 people nationwide.
The announcement follows BWG’s acquisition of the O’Briens Café, Abrakebabra, Bagel Factory and Oasis of Taste Food Hall brands earlier this summer, marking its entry into the quick service restaurant sector and adding a 72-location estate to its portfolio that also includes over 1,000 SPAR, EUROSPAR, LONDIS, MACE and XL stores across the country.
Michael Collins, Chief Wholesale and Logistics Officer at BWG said: “When we acquired these brands, we saw a clear opportunity to build scale in a fast-growing part of Irish foodservice. The portfolio brings together quick service restaurant brands with strong customer recognition, proven franchise relationships and a footprint across the types of locations where quality, convenience, value and familiarity really matter. We are delighted to continue expanding the portfolio with four new openings across Dublin, Carlow and Limerick. That momentum is already coming through and underlines the opportunity to grow the portfolio further.”
