Six nationwide beneficiaries of the SPAR 60th Community Fund Initiative

SPAR and Olympic gold medallist and brand ambassador Kellie Harrington recently revealed the six nationwide beneficiaries of the SPAR 60th Community Fund Initiative.

The beneficiaries of this years grant are a food re-distribution group set up by five secondary school students in Cork, the Dundalk Simon Community; The Claremorris South Responder Group in Mayo; The Little Way Cancer Support Centre in Kildare; The Milford District and Resource Centre in Donegal and the Tipperary Warriors, a sports club for children with disabilities.

Each organisation will receive €10,000 each in funding.

Kellie Harrington said that the community fund is a “fantastic initiative that makes a real difference to the lives of people who are in need of a little support.”

More than 1100 groups applied for the third wave of funding provided by the SPAR Community Fund, which was first launched in December 2021.

Colin Donnelly, sales director, SPAR, commented, “For 60 years SPAR retailers have been proud to serve local communities around the country and the SPAR 60th Community Fund allows us to continue our ongoing work of rewarding and acknowledging the communities SPAR retailers are embedded in.

“It was great to meet representatives of the chosen groups and organisations and hear about the terrific work they are doing and how the SPAR 60th Community Fund will be able to support their work in a very meaningful way.”
