All Circle K locations to join the Too Good To Go app by Q1 2026, making Circle K one of the platform’s largest partners in Ireland.

Circle K is making it easier than ever to save good food from going to waste, with over 120 stores across Dublin, the east and midlands now live on the Too Good To Go app, the world’s largest marketplace for surplus food.

For 2026, Circle K is aiming to have all of its Irish stores on the app by the end of Q1, which will make it one of Too Good To Go’s largest partners in Ireland.

The partnership kicked off earlier this year with two trial locations in Dublin, and following their success, the initiative scaled to over 120 stores in under five months – a testament to Circle K’s efficiency, innovation, and the seamless integration of Too Good To Go into any partner business.

The rollout timeline which began in July includes:

  • Dublin South – 13 stores
  • Dublin North – 15 stores
  • Dublin East – 14 stores
  • Dublin West – 15 stores
  • Dublin City – 14 stores
  • Northern Counties – 14 stores
  • West & Midlands – 15 stores

Circle K offers the €4.99 ‘Deal for Two’ Surprise Bag, available exclusively on the Too Good To Go app. Each Surprise Bag contains two sandwiches and two pastries, giving customers a ready-to-enjoy meal worth around €15 for just €4.99 — a great-value way to enjoy fresh food while helping reduce waste. During the trial customers gave the Surprise Bag an average rating of 4 out of 5, reflecting the quality of the contents.

Machaela O’Leary, Sales Manager at Too Good To Go, said: “We’re thrilled to see Circle K fully embrace our mission to save good food from going to waste. The ‘Deal for Two’ Surprise Bag is a fantastic way to make surplus food accessible, affordable, and enjoyable for everyone, while making a real impact on reducing food waste nationwide.”

Gillian McGowran, Director Market Development at Circle K: “Sustainability is a key focus for everyone at Circle K, and our customers want practical solutions that help them reduce food waste in their everyday lives. By expanding our partnership with Too Good To Go, across all of our locations nationwide, we’re driving more sustainable consumption and helping to reducing food waste across Ireland.”

Too Good To Go Welcomes VAT Cut, Calls for Action to Turn €300m in Surplus Food Waste into Savings for Businesses and People

Too Good To Go, the world’s largest surplus food marketplace, welcomes the Government’s decision in Budget 2026 to reduce the VAT rate for the hospitality sector to nine per cent, but believes the next big opportunity to tackle is the estimated €300 million worth of food wasted every year across Ireland’s food service sector.

Too Good To Go is highlighting the continued need to tackle food waste across Ireland as recent research reveals that 87% of Irish people have had their food shopping habits affected by the rising cost of living, with an equal number (87%) now being more cautious about food waste specifically due to high grocery bills.*

“The VAT reduction is exactly the kind of smart, targeted support that gives our partners breathing room. But this is only half the equation” said Machaela O’Leary, Sales Manager at Too Good To Go Ireland. “Taking action on food waste would not only strengthen the industry’s resilience, but also help households struggling with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.”

The appetite for smarter food solutions across the industry is clear: 57% of people say they’d be likely to use an app like Too Good To Go as prices rise*.

“While businesses are managing tight margins, tight household budgets mean consumers are also looking for ways to make every euro count,” O’Leary added. “Tackling food waste is a huge opportunity – not just for businesses, but for households to access affordable, delicious meals. Together, we can help people save money, reduce waste, and make a real difference for the planet.”

Too Good To Go connects businesses with surplus food to local consumers seeking affordable options. Cafes, bakeries, and supermarkets like ALDI Ireland offer Surprise Bags full of tasty goodies – helping households stretch their budgets and preventing good food from going to waste.

New Research commissioned by Too Good To Go Reveals:

  • 87% of people say the rising cost of living has affected how they shop for food
  • 58% would use food waste apps like Too Good To Go if prices rise further
  •  95% are taking steps to reduce food waste at home

As grocery prices continue to climb, 87% of Irish shoppers report they’ve been forced to rethink how they shop and 87% say they’re now more vigilant about food waste according to new research* from Too Good To Go. With 58% of people open to using surplus food apps, like Too Good To Go if food prices rise further, Irish households are increasingly seeking smarter, more sustainable ways to stretch their budgets.

Too Good To Go, the world’s largest marketplace for surplus food, connects users with local businesses offering Surprise Bags of unsold good food at a reduced price. Whether planning weekly meals or grabbing a last-minute treat, the app is helping people stretch their food budget while reducing waste.

Irish households are getting creative to cut down on food waste, with 47% turning to practical solutions like freezing leftovers, a popular strategy as families get ready for the busy back to school season. Still, nearly half of people (45%) say their biggest struggle is food going off before it can be used, making it tough for parents to keep ingredients fresh and on hand for school lunches and weeknight dinners. Across Europe 10% of food waste stems from confusion over date labels**. However, as long as food has been stored properly and looks, smells and tastes okay, lots of food is safe to eat well past the best before date. Throwing food away also takes an emotional toll, with almost half (46%) of those surveyed admitting they feel guilty when it happens. To help manage this guilt and waste less, Too Good To Go encourages people to trust their senses and simply look, smell and taste, before they waste.

Machaela O’Leary, Sales Manager at Too Good To Go Ireland, said “We know the cost of living is a concern for many families right now, and our mission is to make it easier to access great food while reducing waste. This research shows that people are looking for simple, practical ways to shop smarter and save money. Too Good To Go helps you do just that – saving money and preventing perfectly good food from going to waste.”

Joao Lucas, a Too Good To Go All-Star user based in Dublin, added “Too Good To Go helped me hugely when I was on a tight budget during my PhD — I was saving between €20 and €60 a week. It made eating out more affordable and added a bit of excitement too. My tip for new users is to try the ‘play it safe or be spicy’ approach — some days I go for my favourite spots, other days I try something completely new. It is a fun, low effort way to save money, reduce food waste and support local businesses. Sometimes all it takes is a tap and a swipe to make a positive difference.”

Too Good To Go’s tips for cutting costs and reducing food waste:

  •      Shop with realistic portion sizes in mind to avoid overbuying
  •      Freeze leftovers for future meals
  •      Use the Too Good To Go app to rescue surplus food at a discount
  •      Plan meals around what is in your Too Good To Go Surprise Bag
  •      Track what gets eaten to improve future food planning

By helping to reduce that waste while making quality food more affordable, Too Good To Go is enabling people to make meaningful changes — one meal at a time.

Download the Too Good To Go app today and help fight food waste – one Surprise Bag at a time.
