M&S has launched its inaugural ‘Farm to Foodhall’ campaign, fronted by M&S Chef Ambassador Mark Moriarty, on Wednesday, June 21st.  M&S and Mark will be taking customers on their journey to explore the lengths Irish farmers embark on, to deliver the highest quality M&S Irish produce, from Farm to Foodhall.

This exciting new multimedia campaign will showcase Mark Moriarty meeting with the M&S Select Irish Farmers behind the retailer’s top quality, 100% traceable Irish beef and fresh Irish berries. Mark heads to where M&S’ Irish berries are sourced and learns that great quality, fresh strawberries are specially picked using a specific technique that involves twisting them from the stem. They look at the deep red colour and size before deciding whether or not the produce is M&S ready. All M&S Select Farms encourage a natural eco system in their greenhouses and use bees to pollinate the fruit for extra freshness and great taste.

In the second phase of the campaign, during a visit to the M&S Select beef farm, viewers will experience why M&S is passionate about sourcing quality Irish beef that assures complete traceability, working to the highest animal welfare standards and sustainability.

This campaign further showcases M&S’ commitment to using Irish suppliers and expanding upon its existing range of products sourced from Ireland. Whether it’s top-quality premium meats from Irish farms, dairy products like artisan cheeses, or fresh fruits and vegetables grown on Irish soil customers can enjoy the best of what Ireland has to offer sourced to highest quality standards of M&S.

Customers will see the Farm to Foodhall campaign across TV, social, OOH, emails and in store.

Eddie Murphy, Trading Director at M&S Ireland, said: “I am thrilled to introduce our new Farm to Foodhall campaign, which champions the incredible work of our M&S Select Farms in Ireland. At M&S, we have always believed in supporting and showcasing the very best of what Ireland has to offer, starting with our top-quality stem picked strawberries and 100% traceable Irish beef. This initiative takes our commitment to a whole new level. We have partnered for many years with an exceptional network of farmers and producers who share our passion for quality, sustainability, and community. By championing Irish suppliers, we are not only bringing exceptional products to our customers’ tables but also helping to nurture and strengthen the Irish food industry.”

Mark Moriarty adds, “I am delighted to be partnering with Marks and Spencer for their Farm to Foodhall campaign. This initiative not only supports Irish suppliers but also enables customers to experience the exceptional flavours of locally sourced produce. By prioritising sustainability and responsible sourcing, we can make a positive impact on our communities and the environment. I look forward to working with Marks and Spencer to promote these values and inspire customers to embrace high-quality Irish ingredients.”

Plans for €60m mixed-use development in Limerick rejected by planners https://forecourtretailer.com/plans-for-e60m-mixed-development-in-limerick-rejected-by-planners/ Wed, 23 Feb 2022 11:28:43 +0000 https://forecourtretailer.com/?p=19463 Plans for a €60m mixed-used office, hotel and residential development, including two drive-thru restaurants and a filling station, in Limerick city have been rejected by

Plans for a €60m mixed-used office, hotel and residential development, including two drive-thru restaurants and a filling station, in Limerick city have been rejected by An Bord Pleanála.
The development, which is on a 7.9 hectare site at Singland on Dublin Road, Limerick, also provided for a landmark 14-storey apartment block, new 1.12-hectare public park and playground and community building containing a creche and multi-use games facility.
The board cited grounds of substandard accommodation and failure to be consistent with the zoning of the majority of the site.
It noted some apartments would need to have windows and balconies sealed to combat traffic noise, while approximately 48pc of the development was earmarked for residential use in a site zoned primarily for enterprise and employment with the office blocks only being developed in the final phase of a 10-year construction project.
The board upheld an appeal by Environmental Trust Ireland against the decision of Limerick City and County Council to grant planning permission for the project.
The development included four office blocks, a 152-bed hotel and 245 apartments and duplexes across a number of blocks ranging from three to 14 stories in height near the Parkway Retail Park around 2.5km from the city centre.
The location is the site of a partially built shopping centre which was abandoned in 2009 and largely demolished in 2020. It has been the proposed site of Limerick’s first Marks & Spencer store as well as an ice rink.
The developer, Novelty ICAV, had estimated the development would have provided office space for up to 1,000 workers.
In its ruling An Bord Pleanála said the overall mix and ratio of uses proposed in the development was not consistent with the overall zoning objective of the majority of the site which were for the “creation and protection of enterprise and to facilitate opportunities for employment creation”.
For that reason the board said the project would be contrary to proper planning and sustainable development of the area.
It also refused the application because of the location of the 14-storey apartment block alongside the Dublin Road and the car-dominated layout of the development.
A planning inspector with An Bord Pleanála said the nature and mix of the proposed development represented “a significantly missed opportunity to provide the type of development envisaged in the strategic vision for Limerick”.
