Daybreak and long-term charity partner, the Irish Heart Foundation have teamed up once again for their annual active challenge! The ‘Keep it Moving’ campaign challenges Daybreak retailers and staff to complete a marathon in-a-month throughout September. The goal of the challenge is for Daybreakers to get out and get active to improve their fitness and heart health – all while raising funds for an incredible cause!

Over 150 Daybreak stores nationwide are taking part in the challenge over the month of September. Participants will commit to completing a marathon (42.195km) over the month and will ask customers, family, and friends to sponsor them to achieve the fundraising target.

Molly Byrne, Assistant Brand Manager, Daybreak commented

“We are delighted to continue supporting the Irish Heart Foundation with our annual active challenge and it has become a highlight during the year for us! When creating this challenge, our focus was creating something Daybreakers could get involved in no matter what their fitness level. The challenge aims to celebrate movement, championing participation rather than perfection and allows participants to take part in the challenge at their own pace. The thought of a marathon can be daunting; however, taking it one day at a time and participating according to your own fitness level can make this task achievable with the right mindset and motivation!

Community is at the heart of Daybreak, and we are extremely proud to support the Irish Heart Foundation and their incredible work and mission to eliminate preventable death and disability from heart disease and stroke.”

Daybreak and long-term charity partner, the Irish Heart Foundation have launched another active challenge.

The “Get a Move On!” campaign challenges Daybreak retailers and staff to walk 10,000 steps daily for the month of September. The aim for this year’s active challenge is to showcase that making small lifestyle changes can make a big difference to heart health, all while raising funds for a worthy cause!

More than 200 Daybreak stores are taking part in the challenge over the month of September. Participants will commit to hitting 10,000 steps a day and will ask customers, family and friends to sponsor them to achieve the fundraising target.

Molly Byrne, Assistant Brand Manager, Daybreak, said: “We are thrilled to partner with the Irish Heart Foundation again. This year we wanted to create a challenge which showcased that small lifestyle changes can make a big difference to overall health.

“Sometimes challenges can be intimidating and difficult to participate in but the goal of Get a Move On! is all about participation rather than perfection. It’s about taking the stairs rather than the elevator, walking rather than driving or simply getting some fresh air during a walk on your break. These small changes really add up and improve heart health!

“Daybreak stores are at the heart of communities all across Ireland and we are proud to continue to support the Irish Heart Foundation and their mission to eliminate preventable death and disability from heart disease and stroke and to support and care for those living with these life-changing conditions.”

Daybreak is going Around the World and stepping up for the thousands of individuals living with heart disease and stroke across Ireland.

Daybreak has launched a new Around the World Challenge in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation this summer. Over 300 Daybreak employees representing 96 Daybreak stores have embarked on a month-long active challenge to travel a combined 40,075km, by walking, running, and cycling the distance around the world.

Each store is asking customers, family and friends to sponsor employees along their journey to help achieve their fundraising target.

Vasco Vilas, Assistant Brand Manager with Daybreak said: “We care about people in our communities across Ireland, and understand and respond to their everyday needs.

Save lives

“We are proud to support the Irish Heart Foundation in its mission to save lives by eliminating premature death and avoidable disability from cardiovascular disease and ask customers to support our challenge.”

Every euro raised during the challenge will go directly to the Irish Heart Foundation. The funds raised will help the charity to continue to be there, educate, support and advocate for patients and their families as they are diagnosed with a new heart condition, are recovering from a stroke or heart event, or learning to live well with a condition.

Generosity

Mary Anne Sweeney, Corporate Partnerships Manager with the Irish Heart Foundation added:
“We are so thankful for Daybreak, and it’s employees for taking on this exciting challenge to help heart and stroke patients all across Ireland. Through their generosity, we will support people in local communities and put a comforting arm around the shoulder when they need it most.”

In 2020, the Irish Heart Foundation supported over 5,000 patients and this year they anticipate a 25% increase in demand for their services across local communities.

Daybreak is a long-term corporate partner of the Irish Heart Foundation and is committed to supporting the thousands of individuals living with heart disease and stroke across communities in Ireland.
