Batches of two types of Dolmio pasta sauces have been issued with an urgent allergy alert.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said the batches may contain soya that isn’t mentioned on the label, and that could make them unsafe for customers with soya allergies.

The popular range of pasta sauces are sold in thousands of stores across the country.

Certain batches of the Dolmio Carbonara Pasta Sauce pouches and Dolmio Carbonara Stir-In Pasta Sauce are impacted.

The batches are 150g in size with codes 209A9WE, 209B92WE, 213A9KLN45 and 213B9KLN45 and respective best before dates of 28.02.2023, 01.03.2023, 26.04.2023 and 27.04.2023.

The above batches are under the allergy alert

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said: “This may make the affected batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of soybeans.”

People who have purchased the Carbonara pasta sauces should take appropriate action if they have a soybean intolerance or allergy.

Meanwhile, Spar is recalling batches of its chocolate spread over allergy concerns.

The Spar Spread Up Hazelnut Choco product contains almonds which are not mentioned on the label.
This may be a health concern for customers who are allergic or intolerant to nuts.

The recall concerns products in the pack size 400g, all batches with best before end dates of June 2022, August 2022, September 2022, November 2022 and December 2022.

A warning from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland said: “SPAR is recalling the above batches of SPAR Spread Up Hazelnut Choco because it contains nuts (almonds) which are not mentioned on the label.

“This may make the affected batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of nuts (almonds).”

Meanwhile, two products have been pulled from Lidl shelves after gluten was discovered in products marked gluten-free.

The affected batch could cause major health problems for anyone with a gluten allergy who consumes the product.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland issued the advisory about a batch of Just Free Gluten Free Puddings.

Gluten was detected in a batch of both the white and black pudding range.

The implicated batch numbers are 041-22 with use by dates of 20/05/2022.

Coco Pops just got a whole lot nuttier, as Kellogg’s has announced it is launching a new flavour of its much-loved chocolatey cereal.

From February, cereal lovers across Ireland will be able to get their hands on the new Hazelnut Choc Flavour Coco Pops in all major supermarkets. The limited-edition cereal is on shelves for one year only.

With 30% less sugar than other chocolate flavoured cereals, the tasty new breakfast option will magically transform milk into a chocolatey hazelnut flavour. Kellogg’s Coco Pops experts have spent over a year perfecting the new taste which combines cocoa with notes of hazelnut.

The launch follows limited edition Strawberry & White Choc Flavour Coco Pops that landed on shelves last year.

With fans of the cereal often taking to Twitter to recommend combining original Coco Pops with hazelnut milk-alternatives, the new addition to the range is expected to prove popular.

Amalia Diamanti, Kellogg’s food designer, said: ‘’We spent over 12 months developing the new cereal to ensure it was the perfect flavour combination of cocoa and hazelnut. Coco Pops has such a magical way of transforming milk into a chocolatey swirl, and hazelnut flavour is a natural pairing with it so we can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks.”

In 2018, Kellogg’s reduced sugar in Original Coco Pops by 40 per cent to help families make healthier choices in the morning. This followed a reduction of 14 per cent in 2017, meaning Coco Pops now has half the sugar it did five years ago. The original variety, as well as this new limited edition, are non HFSS (non-high in fat salt sugar) cereals.

Kellogg’s Hazelnut Choc Flavour Coco Pops will be available in all major supermarkets across Ireland from February, RRP €4.69.
