Motorway service operator Applegreen is holding its first Northern Ireland recruitment fair on January 12 in Lisburn.
The fair takes place as the Irish fuel and convenience retailer prepares to open its third Motorway Service Area (MSA) in Northern Ireland – its sixth NI site – directly opposite its popular Lisburn Southbound services.
The opening of Lisburn North will create 120 jobs and Applegreen said it hopes to attract “talented, self-motivated” people to the event.
The fair takes place from 10am to 3pm in the Lisburn Southbound Service Area, where members of the Applegreen team will be available to chat and discuss career paths with prospective applicants.
Established in 1992, Applegreen is a major petrol forecourt retailer based in the Republic of Ireland with a significant presence in the United Kingdom and a number of sites in the US.
The business employs some 2,900 people, and operates more than 210 forecourt sites across the three regions.
Applegreen’s chief operations officer Joe Barrett said: “We are really looking forward to the opening of our second Motorway Service Area on the M1, our sixth site in Northern Ireland and a key priority for us in supporting local employment.
“This recruitment fair is the first we have done in Northern Ireland and we look forward to welcoming local talent to work with us and our food partners.
“We are excited to continue to develop our business here and grow with the communities around our sites.”
Applegreen’s existing Northern Irish sites are located in Coleraine, Ballymena, Hillsborough, with two larger MSAs; one in Templepatrick and another Lisburn, where its third MSA will open soon.
The MSAs boast full convenience stores and a range of big-brand food franchises including Greggs, Burger King, Subway, Chopstix, and Lavazza Café. Splitz Ice Cream Bar will also soon become part of the offer.
The MSAs also boast extended seating areas, and both indoor and outdoor children’s play areas.
